it looks like Le Club Accor have now extended their benefits over status levels, more hotels, and even added new ones!

I had a look today and it all looks rather good.

Silver can now get late check-out, a welcome drink, and brand specific bonuses
Gold can now get welcome drinks and upgrades across more brands as well as brand specific bonuses
Platinum can now get Executive Lounge access at The Pullman and a greater range of hotels for room ugrades as well as brand specific bonuses.

The call center wasn't much help, but from what I have been able to gather room upgrades are now available at; The Sofitel, The Pullman, The Grand Mercure, The Mercure & The Siebel.

Some hotels are offering complementary irnoing services, as well as services called "VIP Privellages" that change based on the hotel brand you stay in.

I have been in contact with the Director of Sales, Marketing & Loyalty this morning and have asked him for further clarification to post on here.

At the Mercure in Brisbane at the moment, didn't get the Plat upgrade as they were fully booked but got a free bottle of wine, 6 drink vouchers and the internet is free the whole week. Pretty good.

I am just an Le Club Gold and at the Sofitel Sydney earlier this week upgraded to a suit a bottle of sparkling 2 free drinks, at the Novotel Twin Waters and got upgraded to our the lagoon suit and 2 free drinks and 2 free tokens for the kids for the games. Staying at the Pullman Hyde Park Monday night bet I get nothing lol.

Cant be greedy :p

I was ecstatic to find out I had been upgraded to a lounge floor access with a nice bottle of red and a box of chocolates at the Sofitel Macau earlier this week. I thought it was just this specific hotel being generous or full but this make more sense.

Good on you Accor!

Yes they seem to be improving, got a stay at Pullman Auckland in a couple of weeks, checked by email on benefits, all should be avail including exec lounge access which brings the program to a par if not better than some of the other loyalty programs.

I also worked out roughly that after about 6 stays I would have enough euros for a free night !!! They have a points calculator now which is also useful.

Have you any update on your luck with this one, mickeyc? I'm considering Pullman Brisbane based on Exec Lounge benefits for plats, and am interested in your experience!

Also, what do folks here consider is the best way of booking a room to ensure status recognition and benefits? Is status recognised if booked thru external/third party sites, or is it best to go direct or even call the hotel for a booking?

As long as you call them and give them your plat number before or even on arrival they will recognise your status. I am considering Brisbane as well to host some drinks with a client. I usually stay at the dirt cheap Snooze Inn as its close to the valley and im only really in brisbane to club, but might be worth the extra ~$70 a night for a better bed, some free drinks and the ability to use the lounge to host a client rather than just taking him to a normal bar somewhere.
When are you looking? If i end up there next friday and its before you ill post a review.

Aah ok thanks for that. Looking at staying early December, MartinMemo. So if you do go the Pullman route, I'd love to hear about your experience!

No worries - will keep you in the loop. If the exec club is anything like the pullman brisbane staff and their service, it will be flawless. The best thing about taking the cheap route and staying in the mercure there is getting to check in with the lovely pullman staff.

stayed at sofitel melbourne last week, 2 nights, i am accor platinum. got automatic upgrade to corner suite room without asking - they had just allocated. nice :)

Did you get lounge? (if so was the room you were upgraded to executive, and therefore included lounge, or did they just provide you with access?)

yes i got upgraded to executive suite and floor, so got lounge (which is fantastic for breakfast, very poor for lunch, great for afternoon tea and light canapes in teh evening. good selection of drinks all day)
not sure if lounge access was because i got upgraded to executive floor or because i was accor platinum

Not sure here either - I stayed at Pullman Brisbane on my gold, which doesnt get lounge, but was upgraded to a floor that does. I agree with the breakfast, very good for a free breakfast. Didn't mind the canapes but TBH I was more interested in the booze!.

What was the room type originally booked?
I am staying there in a fortnight for the weekend and booked the cheapest - Classic Room

I think it was a deluxe king room (sorry cant remember exact type), but as a platinum accor member they try to upgrade you if available regardless of what you have booked

Got given club lounge access at Pullman Auckland, nice lounge but quiet. Brekky was full and served in the main restaurant area as the lounge was quiet, not worth doing the brekky they said which was a shame as it's a very nice exec lounge.

Nice drinks and canapes from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

All in all a nice spot, but slightly out of the way from Queen St, room was exec suite (as booked) but high floor so had nice view.

Good recognition of Plat status, letter from GM, comp waters each night, exec lounge access and service was of a high professional standard throughout the hotel.

Got two stays upcoming at Pullman Brisbane in early/mid Jan, so will see how they go.

Pullman Auckland also, staying 2 nights as part of our Accor timeshare. Status Platinum from the many deals going around.

No upgrade from our King Superior Room, flash bottle of water in the room with printed welcome letter. Two drink vouchers on check in, rang up reception to get the free internet going.

Happy with the freebies.

Back here on Thursday for 2 more nights.

No, wasn't offered, will ask on Thursday.
Off to the Taste of Auckland Festival on Thursday arvo/evening. Won't get much use if the lounge if it happens.
