A bunch of new offerings that won't be available for at least 2 years.

Skynest - book up to 4 hours in a sleep pod.
Economy stretch - rebranded exit row.
Economy - wider screen, new seatback pocket.
Economy plus - hard shell so recline by sliding seat bottom forward. No more invading space of pax behind you.
Sky pantry - self service snacks and drinks.
Business Premiere - reduced angle seat with privacy screen.
Business Luxe - small suite with door.

Im curious about the Y Skynest but read you can only book 4hrs at a time. Screw that, I'll pay for the entire flight if I couldnt get J 🤣

Wonder if you booked 2 seats you'd get 2 sessions?

Given I'd rarely get more than 3 hrs sleep on a plane in J, the permanent economy-beds look a better option than a coverted J bed, esp with one of my mini-mattresses!

There's a video of the set-up amongst the 'sharefile' download in the OP.

It looks like an alternating in-out angle. The seats in front and behind the one posted look like the face towards the window?
More pictures on Exective Traveller. Looks like they all face outwards to me, an evolution on the herringbone concept, but with additional space. Some of which was created through the use of foot cubbies. Revealed: Air New Zealand Boeing 787 Business Premier Luxe suites

Maybe a variant of VantageSolo? VantageSolo | Thompson Aero

👍

Haha… love the ‘customer feedback’ that doesn’t want a wardrobe or mini bar! The front suite/seat is plenty big enough for both.

Business class still faces in. What are they thinking??
personally I prefer this layout to the alternating window / aisle arrangement, where if you score an aisle side seat you have the aisle traffic bumping your elbow.

On the Y "4 hour bunks"... wondering how they will go with evacuation requirements.
It looks like you would need to be very agile to use the top bunks.
If I am already committed to a long haul in economy, I don't think a few hours in a bed (for what price??) is going to be that attractive.
Reckon these will never happen and be replaced by seats before launch.

I do find it interesting they are positioning what is effectively "Premium Economy" as "Basic Business".
The PE seats today are a lot like the original business seats from early 90's, when even first did not have lie flat.

Air NZ is excellent at marketing spin and this release is no different. By the time some of this stuff is released it'll either be standard or outdated.
Kiwi_flyer Apologies I'm responding to each line of your post but since you've posted each new product I can't help myself.

Skynest - book up to 4 hours in a sleep pod.
Given it's taking up at least 2 rows of economy, you'd expect a 3-4 hour session to cost around $400-600. It'll be interesting to see if people bite on this offer. It takes me a while to get to sleep and I can't imagine be woken and kicked out would make too many people very happy.
Economy stretch - rebranded exit row.
Clearly the idea of Economy+, Economy X or Space seating hasn't made it's way to Air NZ yet... oh wait clearly Air NZ themselves has forgotten the Space+ seating they had on long haul flights years ago but I guess this time status holders won't get free access and instead it'll be $$$ that gets you an assigned seat here.
Economy - wider screen, new seatback pocket.
Cool.
Economy plus - hard shell so recline by sliding seat bottom forward. No more invading space of pax behind you.
Having flown this type of seating in both economy (Cathay Pacific) and premium economy (old Air NZ 777 seats + Air France premium economy), I can't say I'm a fan and many reviews of the above mentioned also agree that reclining you seat and losing legroom isn't ideal.
Sky pantry - self service snacks and drinks.
This is something that airlines like Qantas have had for years on their A380 and hardly "revolutionary".
Business Premiere - reduced angle seat with privacy screen.
Business Luxe - small suite with door.
So the two business products look fine for a product in use right now, but I suspect just like the current seat they'll be very quickly dated. Earlier this year I flew ANA's the room business class and if you gave me a choice between the new Air NZ J seat or what ANA has on their 777's then ANA would win hand's down. The business class seats look no more special that what most carriers have as their current J products but the huge difference is they're typically not using them for 17 hour flights.

Those Business seats look pretty stock standard to me these days. Which is still a huge improvement over those outright idiotic cabin-facing coffins that AirNZ currently used. Given the meals are so much better than on, let’s say Qantas, this will definitely be a big boost for them.

I agree when i flew to NZ last year in Business...i felt no privacy and the whole cabin felt like a chicken house. I wondered how people flew to US in those seats. So akward!

There’s a lot to be said for an exclusive row of Y seats to catch some rest on…..
