Hey everyone. What a cool site! Stumbled upon it quite by accident.

WOW! So many Gold and Platinum flyers and so much talk about the "routine" of flying Business Class or even First Class! *jealous*

I'm just a lowly Bronze member. Have been all my QFF life. But I have been flying regularly for work recently and will be until the 25th June. However as of the 25th June I won't necessarily be flying much - nothing for certain anyway and far as I can calculate I will need 100 Status Credits before the 31st August to attain Silver.

What's the best/cheapest way to do this?

Cheers,
CSP

Welcome Flyboi.

Can you let us know what port you are in, if you have a lot of QFF points or not??

Cheers.

Also, as it happens I have a $580 ish voucher on my account thanks to a work flight I never took. It expires in November so could I use it to do a Mileage run just to get Status Credits and points?

If so, what's the best route?

I'd be starting in Canberra.

I live in Canberra. I didn't think you earnt Status Credits on Frequent Flyer flights but if it helps I have the voucher I need to use (as I mentioned) as well as arouns 72,000 Frequent Flyer points.

Thanks for the quick reply and the kind welcome. :D

Have a look at an anyseat award in Business class to Hobart and back via Sydney, 32000 points + $$$ for 200 SC's.

Unless your planning on doing a lot of international flying on other one world airlines, I wouldn't bother deliberately getting silver (PS), and instead I'd look at joining the Qantas Club (QP), as that would give you similar benefits as a gold (SG) for far less $$$... It would also mean that you'd be able to save your points and $$$ for somewhere you actually want to go...

PS just means you get business (J) check-in and higher standby priority, where as QP means you'd get J checkin and access to the Qantas Club lounge and you'll spend quite a bit less money.

Just my 2c...

Never mind! Have to go to Bangalore Monday for 10 days for work. Told them I'd only do it if they coughed for Buisiness Class. Should get more than enough Status Credits for Silver and be on my way to getting enough for Gold next year! :D

Hi,

Demanding J travel can backfire and you may find yourself not being offered travel.

However if they do send you J make sure you enjoy the flight and take advantage of all the perks.

I meant I told my company that. Not the airline.

And they did. :D

I meant demanding from the company, if my staff did that I would send another staff member.

I decide on what class they fly according to the job they are doing and the times I need them to fly, not according to what they demand.

Congrats on the J seat and I hope you enjoy the trip.

Hahaha... My company needs me more than you need your staff by the sounds of it.

If I do a points upgrade to Business from Economy, do I get Business level statsu credits?

what a rip! points are still "paying" for it...
Exactly, points are paying for it, that is why you don't get status, just like for a classic award. The only difference is the recent change to any seat awards, and that could be justified because the points cost can be a lot higher and is supposed to be related to the dollar cost of the fare. (while the points still have no value )

I assume you really mean from economy to business :!:
Well that is what was written :p

Qantas certainly wont give you any stasu credits!!!
If you are lucky you may (very unlikely) score the J SC's.
If you are unlucky QFF will credit you nothing, a common mistake which has happened to a few AFFers in the past - a simple phonecall to QF would rectify this and you are credited the SCs for original booking class.

:p

Are these credits for dining at the local Yogaclass? A little outside of the core business I would have thought... ;)

Welcome to AFF flyboi - I hope you enjoy your J flight - dont forget you get lounge access and priority boarding, lets see a trip report out of you :)
