Hi, we are booked to fly to Germany with our little girl from BNE in August. We are travelling J.

There are two flight combinations availalbe to get us there (via SIN). We thought it would be best to stop (without an actual stop over) for as long as we could to allow time for the little lady to get out and about (to avoid cabin fever).
Leaving Australia there are two flights availabe, the first leaving at 09:10 and arriving SIN at 15:20 and the second leaving at 23:45 and arriving at 05:55 before continuing on the next day at 13:55.

The question is - is a day flight with 22 hour layover (with hotel stop for little miss) better than a night flight with 7-8 hour layover???

Any thoughts or expieriences?

Hi Bodo
I have done the europe trip many times with Mini Danger (now 5 1/2 ys)
For us the late departure from Oz is prefered. Arrive in SIN after a sleep. Grab some breeky, abit of a play on the interterminal trains then off to the swimming pool on top of terminal 1 to burn off some of that kid energy for a good few hours.
The 13 hours or so to europe is then either a 1 sleep or 2 sleep leg for little people

Cheers Danger UXB

In J, I try and get overnight flights so everyone can sleep! Danger UXB's suggestion looks perfect.
Long haul in Y I prefer day flights with a hotel sleep at the end of each sector..

Havent done long haul but i'd be going with Danger's suggestion if travelling with minidoc (age 16 months).

Are you getting a seat for the little one or will she be sharing a seat with you?

Hi k3nnis we were going to pay the infant fare, rather than pay for another seat.

So nurse your child for 13 hours ? Have you thought that one through ?

We flew BNE-SIN-LHR-CDG pretty much straight through with Little Miss when she was 18months old. In Y. I'd do that again. For me, I'd rather get the travelling over & done with. Little Miss did not sleep BNE-SIN, and she & I walked most of the way (Mr Katie was passed out in 4 seats to himself after getting food poisoning from snail the night before). I can't remember now, but I think Little Miss was asleep fairly quickly after boarding or leaving SIN.
We do tend to throw things at Little Miss and expect/want her to deal with them, especially for travel. She's a well-seasoned SG now. ;)

Thanks. Let us know how it goes. I'm planning an infant fare as well. In upper class on vs syd to hkg return...
