We will be catching the train from Florence to Milan the day before our flights depart from Linate to London and need some accommodation for 3 adults for one night only, probably within easy reach of the station so that we can catch the train out to Linate...if any one could recommend somewhere that would be great..I am not sure on budget but something middle range would be great...will try and do some sight seeing the first day

I stayed at the Michelangelo Hotel - four star directly across from central station. A really nice and comfortable hotel, fantastic breakfast. You may want to research Linate airport a bit more - the train from the station goes to the main airport Malpensa (MXP).
There is no train to Linate it is a central city airport - but no problem - there is a shuttle bus that runs directly from central station to Linate (check the Linate airport website for more details and schedule). We loved Milan - don't miss going downtown to see the Duomo (easy train ride away). If you like art it is worthwhile going to see The Last Supper painting but you must book tickets and a time slot in advance.

Thank you great advice

As a budget hotel we found the Adi Gloria Grand not a bad option. Very easy to get to/from the station & we found some good food options an easy walk away. Think they have family rooms that may suit
