Looking on EF, some of the J cabins on, say, QF25 SYD-HND next week are half empty, however there are no availability at all for redemption. Do they reserve those seats for point upgrades, last min bookings or do they just fly half empty and never open them up to classic awards? Im logged in as SG.

Given that a 744 is in use, it is impossible to tell from EF that some of the cabins are "half empty". Don't confuse unallocated seats (if you are looking at the seat map), with available tickets.

Given that J9 is the most that you can see, 9 available tickets doesn't tell you how many more than 9 may be available. The degree of "emptiness" can best be judged by the D9 I9 - where I9 exists, then it is likely that there are many empty seats.

That said, some days have less than J9, indicating quite healthy loads.

EDIT- What RichardMEL said.....
