I did the Status run back in August. BNE/MEL/SYD/NAN/SYD/MEL/BNE. in J - Fantastic.

Looking to do it again, but can't seem to book it anymore at the same crazy low price.,, (from memory the one-way in J from NAN/SYD/MEL/BNE was about $650) now its about $1500.

Have they closed this loophole regarding this fare type?? :?:

Re: Just returned from Fiji Status Run

Hmm it's not coming up outbound either... perhaps it's finally all over?

Soo glad I booked one earlier this week! I am seeing nothing!

Edit, I take that back! The price of your flights has increased by AUD$5299.80 due to changes in surcharges and taxes.
New amount is displayed below.

What? You've booked and Qantas has increased the price?

And we're supposed to believe the surcharges and taxes are responsible, rather than an increase in the fare itself?

Supposedly

New Amount Due = $4376.56* AUD Holding Deposit Paid = $25.00 (AUD)
Old Amount Due = $1560.86 (AUD)

Wow.

I haven't done a hold reservation before.

If they're quoting it's due to an increase in taxes and surcharges, I'd be checking that with a TA or EF or something to verify it.

The NAN run was the only decent SC run from Australia (wholly paid, rather than xASAs).

Not surprising if its gone. Would it have stuck around longer if it wasn't published and pushed so heavily as a cheap way to get qf status?

At least the age old question has finally been answered… holding a seat doesn’t actually guarantee you anything with Qantas, and the sooner you pay the full amount, the better!

Bugger, sorry to hear about your impending loss of ticket :(

Well at least it makes my choices easier with other options still available, just not on QF ticket stock LOL, so they loose. Interestingly FJ still have fares in that range, just without the extra flights. I am going to see if I can get the deposit back as I dont think its fair they keep it, worst case will be a bait advertising complaint with the ACCC.

Luckily I paid for next weeks trip a week ago.
Unluckily my trip in late April will now be cancelled due to the massive price increase.

A quick and dirty search for a random date in May for PER-NAN still produces J fares in the $988-1204 range on QF, so no change since the last time I was daydreaming and scheming. ;) Perhaps it's just a glitch? Sure hope so for your sake, markis10!

For MEL-NAN, the non-stops are ca $825.00 each way in J. It's MEL-connection-NAN that's really gone up! (a lot)

That's curious ... for example, I'm seeing $994 for PER-MEL-BNE-NAN. Mind, that's a day (Wednesday) when no direct MEL-NAN flight features in the search results.

Least week the routing rules for BNE-NAN rt were:Results from ExpertFlyer.com
Code:

Serfty, for those of us not so fluent in routing language, what's the change?

I can see a change after "/within the eastern hemisphere" The numbered points are missing that list the flights via the eastern capitals. I assume that means those routes are no longer valid options.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

The main difference I can see is the old routing from E/F last week in Serfty's post above shows the routing BNE/NAN may be 1. BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN or 2. BNE-NAN but now these routings don't appear at all.

This may explain why the price is so high now when you fare quote your itinerary as it's probably charging sector fares. I don't know why even the BNE-NAN routing doesn't show up either on the new fare rules.

Wonder if Red Roo can shed some light on the subject & follow up with QF's pricing analysts.

Thanks ozbeachbabe, but I'm still no wiser.

BTW, the fact I'm no wiser has nothing to do with you. :D

I blame TonyHancock.

So what we're seeing is a fare increase, not a change in "surcharges and taxes" as QF seems to be claiming?

The fare has increased a few dollars.

What we are actually seeing here is a change in the terms of fare. Since markis10's ticket has not been ticketed, I think he is going to struggle with this one.

Looking at QF hold conditions conditions;
  • While your booking is on hold, the total ticket price may change due to amendments in surcharges, taxes and fare adjustments.
A fare adjustment has been made here. In this case, the routing rules.
