Work fly's me up yesterday (June 17th) on the BNE to BDB for the week, first time in a Turbo-Prop :) Shortly after take-off they hand out the complementary drink and this weird snack... I can't remember the name of it, didn't take a picture of it not having an iPhone (still), yet if anyone could be of any help in helping me naming it, it would help satisfy my curiosity - The three biscuits, tomato and cheese in them dried/cooked or something...

For the record, lets just say it didn't then agree with me and as soon as I rocked up into the office, I need to get acquainted with the bathroom shortly after :( Me thinks I'll just stick to the snacks in The Lounge pre-boarding... Actually, my return flight Friday and my flights next week round-trip are all on QF. Good thing? *shrugs*

I had the misfortune of trying them on SYD-CBR on Monday. Sun dried tomato and Parmesan biscuits. I ate a second of three to confirm just how disturbingly awful they were. I made a pass when offered on the return flight yesterday...

Maybe it just proves that I have a cast iron stomach, but I quite like those biscuits. I like savory food in general.

Each time I have had them I think how easy they would be to bake at home, but never get around to devising a recipe.

That's them!? I was on the right path with the name, but I more remembered how "interesting" they tasted... Ugh...

Having now done BNE-BDB twice on QFLink since, a 3rd flight to follow tomorrow, why the heck can't VA just do something simple and abit more mainstream rather than try and be fancy & put there passengers in sick beds once they arrive at there destination?!

Hmm, I find some of the QF 'refreshments' to be a bit unusual.....

I agree the roast onion muffin was one of the worst for me. However the beef stirfry on CBR-ADL last night was almost raw which didn't impress.

I can handle savoury food... But wonder sometimes which evil chef dreams up such bizarre flavours...

So there not the greatest in the world, but I'd prefer a muffin, a mini-muesli bar and juice to whatever VA gave me...
I'll see what I can eat today; Having the flu isn't helping anything

Muffin? Muesli bar?

Imagine if you will a corn chip, but made not from corn but from pumpkin. You are now approaching what I was served as a refreshment last I flew qantas.

Ahhhh, now I see where you are coming from... Yea.... Wow

EDIT: Just got off my BNE flight this Evening: Packet of Shapes, Mini-Choc Bar, Salami Stick & Water.... Simple, but yes, I'm not complaining too much

Adding to this thread instead of starting a new one.. :)

I flew on the ATR 72-600 this morning and was served a rather nice escargot type pastry thing... The only problem with it was that it wasn't much bigger than the size of a 20c piece! I get that Virgin are trying to compete with QF, but seriously, if I can eat the whole thing in a couple of mouthfuls, then why bother?

i found the texture a bit odd - maybe because it was pastry and was fridge cold (flew this morning too).
