This probably seems like a really stupid question but after reading the OW web site and searching on here and FT i have an interesting question...

Before the first flight can you name change on a *ONE* ticket ? or once its booked as a person you need to refund and re-book ?

it needs to be cancelled and rebooked

if it is an Australian origination, then there is no fee of course

Does this also apply for the pacific fare? I wanted a fare which allowed - MEL-HKG [24 hr stop]-NRT-DFW [stop]-LAX-MEL. TA said that in J it was about $7000 per person but couldn't change outbound date from Australia [ie 1st flight and only way around this was to cancel which was loss of 11% of fare paid]. Is this correct?

Thanks Dave, i thought that would be the case, i had a friend that wanted to book but not sure if his partner could travel and so was thinking there was a slim chance he could book 2, and if she can't travel just to change the dates to later in his name.

With the business class Circle Pacific fare , the cancellation penalty is 10% other than from Australia where it is listed as 11%

With the circle asia fare I booked recently that had to change the first flight details when I reversed the trip - I was told that the 10% cancellation fee could be applied to another higher fare only so that although I booking an equal fare the cost had to be written off :(

Does this mean that if I booked a business circle pacific fare [$7000] and had to change the date of first flight that the 10% cancellation fee would be waived if I converted it to the first class circle pacific fare [$9000].

Presumably this would only work once as can;t go higher than first?
