My sad, self-destructive day...

On that note, would be good to get a view from members regarding this, ie how much additional time do you allow for typically? Domestic/International with checked bags vs Dom/Int without checked bags? Does it vary by carrier?

Domestic home port ... 45 mins regardless of checked or HLO.
Domestic other port ... 50 to 60 mins regardless of checked or HLO plus am usually on a flexi ticket
International home port ... 90 mins regardless of checked or HLO
International foreign ports frequented and easy to navigate ... 90 mins
International foreign ports not frequented ... 180 mins

All above presumes priority access due to cabin class or airline status.

If on an airline where I have no status nor premium cabin access e.g flying nochanceairlines.com in some backwater place, then all that goes out the window and I roll with local advice as to best practise.

After cutting it fine 1 time pretty early on, I now give myself tons of time. Since dom or int is the same (from CBR) I tend to arrive at the airport an hour to 90 min before. That gives me tons of time to deal with any problems which could come up (eg the morning I got a flat tyre on the way to the airport). Basically I'd rather be at the airport drink in hand chillin out, than stuck halfway, stressing out about missing my flight.
