My (our) last EVER JASA.

Well, before the new Fairer Simpler program got underway.Mrs GPH booked a few JASA's. We should fall across the line WP for the last time this membership year.
We departed BNE for a Flounge run on Sunday.
Itinerary BNE-SYD-CHC....tiki tour to ZQN.... (Death Star to AKL) Then AKL-BNE-TSV-BNE. (330 SC's in the old money) I think it's now a fairer and simpler SC earn of about 250 SC's. ( loving you AJ)!

Spent 4 highly productive hours in the QF 1st lounge before heading to CHC.

Arrived late, booked into the Novotel Cathedral square.
Great breakfast. Poached eggs cooked perfectly ( no vinegar) for breakfast.
Headed off on a tiki tour to ZQN via Akaroa and Tekapo.
Great drive down from CHC.
Booked a nice Highlander AWD ( Kluger in Oz) , wandered about Akaroa, took some great snaps!!

Drove in down to Tekapo, last visit the place was fog bound. This time weather much kinder. Got some great shots!!

Arrived in ZQN, dashed over ( after booking in to CP ) to Botswana Butchery for lunch with friends.
Finally staggered out around 4 hours later and called into pier 19 for a quiet glass or 3 of Pinot.

Ok. Yesterday was huge. I love this town. The weather is cold and there is light rain. But it is just magic

I can highly recommend the share plate of lamb at Botswana Butchery. It says for two. But in reality it will feed four


The Duck Fat Roast Potatoes are almost worth it on their own.



The fact they give you a spoon and fork to carve this, will give you some idea of how tender this is.

Some stats:

We have had a really great few days in ZQN. And all while the weather was rubbish.
However it offers a range of benefits dear to the hearts of most AFFr's.
Aviation : flights in and out, and plenty of exciting adventure flights to the glaciers and like.
Food: plenty of great restaurants
Wine: NZ's own "Barossa".
So maybe with the help of a few old hands we could look at an AFFr's ZQN wine and food weekend? ( or longer)
It doesn't have to be in winter either.

Sounds a a great idea to have a wine & food weekend in ZQN. We were there last November and had lunch at Mt Difficulty , magical !!! There is also a lovely Hilton, although no exec lounge and a fair way out of town , but the boat ride to to town is awesome. Flight into ZQN was one of the best we have had scenery wise, beautiful clear day, flight out nothing as it was cloudy.

I suggest you start planning now !!

Yep. Hilton is too far away for me. We stay at CP for easy walk into town and restaurants. Executive lounge notwithstanding.
Parking is a drag in ZQN so location is vital IMHO.
I shall consult with the usual suspects for ideas.
So far
I'm thinking a wine tasting at Gibston valley in the morning. Then to Amisfield for lunch and then evening at leisure ....... More ideas welcome.
We have given the Botswana Butchery menu a flogging.
The lamb share is easy enough for 4 !! And tasty as!!
