This will allow people to park their car on Riddoch Highway and be transported across the runways to the terminal.

Airport Compliance Officer Paul McFarlane said that plans are in place to construct 50 car park spaces adjacent to the highway and transfer those passengers to the terminal via the new hovercraft.

"People have said to us that the current parking is too far away and so we have established this program to ensure quicker travel times and to reduce fuel used getting to the airport" Mr McFarlane said.

The 446AH Hovercraft seats 8 people at a time and can transit the airfield in 2 minutes. The trial is expected to conclude at the end of May with full services planned to commence from October.
