Just sitting in what I thought was a quiet corner of the VA lounge in SYD and there's a bloke on his phone at the end of the table shouting (or talking in his outside voice) into his mobile giving directions to every member of staff in his organisation. He's obviously a DYKWIA there. He's got a colleague across from him who he also addresses at the same volume. I'm now pretty aware of all his company's plans for the next meeting, the rest of the year and the names of most of his staff.

Similar experiences? There doesn't seem to be a "no mobiles" area in VA lounges unlike QF if they still exist.

I had a similar experience in the Koru Club last year. This dipstick was standing next to our table full on with his PA about some mundane cough.

I stood up and glared at him from about a metre. I was about to give him an earful but he could see I was not happy and turned around and walked outside.

Some people have no idea and no consideration for others.

Yep... FaceTime also does my head in.... Yes your kids look cute but we don't need to hear it...

Only every time I go to the lounge. There always seems to some jerk gobbing off loudly on the phone or to their companion/s.

Seems to me that keeping a civil tongue in your head is a quaint notion too.

Just start your own very loud call next to them...

"Yeah i'm in the airport lounge and some incredibly annoying dipsh$t is next to me on his mobile yelling at the top of his voice."

I'm sure that may have some affect:)

I never understand people who use skype/facetime in public without a headset!

If you don't have a headset, don't use skype/facetime in public.

Well I now know that Mr Shouty is moving on to another company and that it's confidential at the moment.

In situations like this, I am often tempted to sit down near them and join in the conversation! Never been quite game to do it though...

Last Monday evening after a rather stressful day at a funeral, there were several of these twerps in the Brisbane Q business lounge, some people obviously don't realise that you don't have to talk that loud into a mobile telephone, after all the person you are really speaking to has a device at the other end as well, that is why they are called mobile telephones..... :)

We moved to the 'quiet' area, but it really wasn't that quiet either.

They are everywhere. I had Mr Shouty in the Doctors waiting room last week. Wasn't well and a bit stressed and the last thing I wanted to hear was someone else's affairs. I find women are the worst as their voices can be more strident. And annoying.

I had a similar one when waiting for hubby while he was having day surgery recently. (Eye surgery so lots of oldies in the waiting room, must have been cataract day)

So I sat there and just stared at Mr McShouty.... and stared... tilted my head to the right... and stared.

He eventually made eye contact...

Me: Really? You cant go outside and do that, so not to bother the dozen people here that don't give a cough about your call because we are waiting for people we love going through surgery?

Im assuming it was his mum sitting next to him who jabbed him with her elbow and he went outside followed by lots of comments from the crowd talking about how rude people are these days (told you it was oldies cataract day)

This is why my husband says I need supervision.

Edit: Oh and for the Lounge. Ive had one at Changi SK T1 lounge shouting across the entire floor. I told him to shut up and this was a quite area... but in my "Im in a pissy mood" voice. He shut up after that.

Just b r e a t h e - the only person getting stressed about it is you.

To me, breathing comes naturally. And I'd be pretty sure they are/were not NOT the only one stressed about it.

Have you ever actually done that? ;)

I did, sort of. Some twerp talking loudly about their (identified, publicly listed) company affairs. I waited till they finished, stayed in my seat beside him, made an imaginary call and told my broker I'd just gotten a hot time about 'company'.

And , yes, he heard that and tried hard not to react and listen to my call at which point I talked very quietly and walked away.

That's gold :D

Brave comment.
