Travelled on MEL - BNE VA 353 last night, seated in 3C, flight arrives in BNE, air bridge connects, Mr Business class on his phone blocking the aisle,

" must go now"

he says

" i`m holding up the plane"

hangs up, yup we are all waiting, it is after all 9 pm and we are all anxious to stampede off the aircraft after a long day.

Mr Business Class turns to Cabin crew and says

"That was my friend, he`s dying of cancer"

a certain passenger was heard to mutter under his breath but just loud enough,

"and I`m dying to get home"

swear it wasn`t me!

Simple solutions:
  • Walk and talk. Yes, there are some things which men are capable of doing simultaneously, contrary to the adage that men can only do one thing at a time.
  • Move back to your Business seat or another one - basically out of the aisle. You can always disembark later.
  • Walk out to the aerobridge - "Sorry, just give me a few seconds" - walk, walk, walk, find a corner in the bridge, resume conversation.

There, now was that so hard?

Can't say anything about the mutterer, but just to set things straight, how long do you estimate he reasonably held up the disembarkation process?

The holdup wasn't long but its a bit like the guy who is not watching when the traffic light turns from red to green. How long would you wait before tooting your horn or swearing under your breath?

As soon as I realise they are not moving....
