Does anyone know what the MPM is for ADL-AKL ??? I want to redeem an award ADL-BNE-AKL with a BNE stopover in both directions, or at least one direction.

AFAIK there isn't a direct ADL-AKL flight, and QANTAS schedules are via SYD or MEL. According to Great Circle Mapper it is 20% further via BNE.

I've seen the AAward thread on FT, which says stopovers aren't allowed with non-American itineraries.

Has anyone done an open-jaw itinerary on an AAward , ie ADL-AKL-BNE ???

Alternatively, I guess I can look at a OneWorld award, but it looks like that two OneWorld airlines are needed for this.

ADL-BNE-AKL-BNE is 3863mi according to Great Circle Mapper.

That means 35K AA miles, if they'll let me book it.

You can do an open jaw, so ADL-xBNE-AKL , AKL-BNE would be permitted and would cost 20k economy/35k business

There isn't an MPM as such on the partner awards

Sorry, I don't quite follow the xBNE notation. Does that mean I can get a stopover in BNE on the way to AKL providing I can get seats? Or just a transfer in BNE?

Do you know what class the AA partner awards book into for economy?

Also does anyone know if dates/times can be changed after booking the tickets without penalty? What about after commencing the journey?

The xBNE means that you can transit but cannot have a stopover.

AA awards on QF book into X class for economy

Date/Times/Routing can be changed without penalty as long as the origin and destination points do not change

e.g. ADL-xBNE-AKL can be changed to ADL-xSYD-AKL on a different date for free

Changing the origin/destination would incur a USD100 fee

The cost would be 20,000 miles

If you need a stopover in both directions, you would need 2 awards ADL-BNE-ADL with BNE-AKL-BNE and would cost 40,000. If you don't need to get back to ADL and you can get availbility across the Tasman one way on LAN, then you could do ADL-BNE-AKL-BNE for 35,000 miles using a OW award. Changes on OW awards are more restrictive than partner awards and you can only do date changes, no routing changes

Thanks Dave Noble...

One more question that you might be able to answer... Does an Open Jaw ticket have to have the two longest segments on it?

i.e. could you do AKL-BNE-PER on a 20k ticket in economy, 35K in business? Or could you only do AKL-PER-BNE ???

Not sure, but I would suspect the latter would be needed.
