Hi guys,

So..... I've been plotting and planning a trip for a long time.. a round the world because I believe that is the most effective use of points... I started off plotting an ecconomy one.. but through time that has moved.. as I've been unable to travel or had to pay for fares etc...

At the moment I have just shy of 300,000 points... I was just wondering in your opinions, what is the most effective use of these? am I better to continue saving until I get the 420k FC option? or is it useless booking above business class?

Also, does anyone have a good itinerary ideas ex Sydney that would see as much as possible? USA probably not necessary as ive seen that, but do love NY.

Thanks for your tips..

Well done, and J/F award would be a great use of points. If considering F, close attention to routing would be needed as a number of medium/long haul routes are starting to lose the F option. The real 'main' ones still have it, but some secondary ones (e.g. SYD-JNB), along with many regional ones are losing or have already lost it. Too many non-F flights, and the value of the F award starts to get eroded.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The easiest way to NYC would be a classic First out of MEL or SYD to LAX at 144k each way and then on AA across the US.
I think that uses 438,000 points or 388,000 if you are ok with business class on AA.
There would be better ideas than this but it is something that has worked for me quite a number of times and availability will be the critical issue.
