Most economical way for 3 months accommodation in Vegas?

I'm travelling to Vegas for three months because I have family there - and no, they are not 'entertainers' - and since I work solely from a computer it allows me the flexibility to travel while working. So I've been looking into various types of accommodations trying to find the most economical option. I can't really stay with family for the entire time because they have new additions to the family, but staying on alternating weekends will probably be fine.

So far I've looked into:

1. Short term (monthly) rentals in a condo
   • Advantages: Comfortable, spacious, more economical than a hotel, and have kitchen facilities.
   • Disadvantages: Move in costs (admin fees, 'sure' fees, bond), utility connections, other body corporate style costs.
2. Hotels
   • Advantages: Very convenient, close to everything
   • Disadvantages: Costly for long term, plus the dreaded resort fees add-on, expensive on weekends
3. Airbnb
   • Advantages: Cheaper than a hotel, more living space, kitchen facilities
   • Disadvantages: Considerably more expensive than short-term rentals
4. House sitting (not sure if this is a viable option). There doesn't seem to be many listings for this type of thing, and people might be funny about an overseas visitor sitting for them anyway. My security clearance will probably mean nothing in the US.

So my arrival date is in July... Does anyone have any other good ideas I might not have thought of?

G'day wiz. I'd jump onto the TripAdvisor forum to ask about legalities and scams. The destination experts may be able to advise which renting sites are legit and preferable locales that are safe. I've stayed in airbnbs, but you need to do careful due diligence.

Airbnb usually offer discounts for long term. I would be climbing the walls living in s vegas hotel for 3 months.

Most of the short term rentals I've looked at are operated by well known names in the local market (702housing, Wyatt apartments, et al). And I know the area well, and which areas to avoid, though it was considerate of you to mention that, thanks.

Maybe TripAdvisor can provide some more insight.

Those short term condo rentals. I'm surprised at the 'move in' costs you mention. I guess Nevada and even Las Vegas might be more 'risk adverse' but the one or two times I've been in the US for business, my client has rented a condo for me and I'm pretty sure there was no such fees (at least on top of the monthly rental). This was Montana and Idaho.

The rste was also lower than weekly rental as it was classified as 'residential' and not 'holiday' accommodation.

You've obviously tested the market and that's the situation. I'd always go with a condo over hotel etc for stays of >several weeks.

Mr Jurahn stayed in LV for a month a couple of years ago - he spent ages looking at the different types of accommodation as he wanted a place close to where he would be training, somewhere reasonably nice with a bit of space, cooking facilities, easy access to the places he needed/wanted to get to - he finally ended up staying at Palms Place, which is part of the Palms Casino complex. They offer long-term stay options in their condos - I think he had a studio suite which had a kitchen/dining area, big bathroom, decent-sized sitting area, parking and internet were included from what I recall, and he was very happy with it. He signed up to "Club Palms" and made good use of the F & B discount at the buffet while he was there .

I'd definitely look on airbnb and enquire with some of the hosts long what discounts and deals they could do for you for a long term rental otherwise my next bet would to house sit for someone for the time you are there. I've used airbnb all over the world and in LV before and can't fault it.
