More AA miles for Higher priced Fares.

Pure speculation on my part but could it be the fore runner of miles earnt by spend rather than distance?

I would like to think that if AA did go down that route they would wait at least a couple of years before doing it. They've got the merger to bed down, along with all the disgruntled US FFs. And with UA and, I think, DL going the revenue way, it would be a great opportunity for AA to capitalise on that and score some defectors.

Appears to be no limits on it.

Like this FAQ:
Won't these extra bonus miles dilute award availability?

No. American is constantly evaluating MileSAAver award availability, and also offers last seat award availability on all flights with AAnytime awards. In addition to redeeming miles for tickets, members can redeem miles for upgrades to First Class and Business Class, vacation packages, car rentals, hotel stays and retail products.

I guess this means we hope MileSAAver award availability for premium classes will be returning, because apparently only the desperate and insane will burn an AAnytime award. Combined with churning credit cards this could be nutso, and even more so after AA and US accounts are consolidated.

Would somehow take the sting out of the loss of more generous routing rules in US DM, I suppose.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

As an exp this offers some pretty interesting earning possibilities on a DONEx. I think it is a great enhancement. Let's hope they don't now review and "enhance" the award charts any further.

As a first time EXP as if the end of this month the 12,000 bonus is of particular interest to me. Given it is available on JFK-LAX/SFO it's time to find some international fares that turn around on these legs.

Was sent an email by AA about the bonus miles, just wondering about my recently completed fare in J LAX-JFK-LHR.
Would this mean two lots of bonus points, LAX-JFK and JKF-LHR or would it count simply as LAX-LHR and just the one bonus?

Hmmm, maybe i'm missing what's so exciting about this... But then i never pruchase J or F fares...

The cynic in me thinks that you don't start handing out candy using one hand without taking something away with the other hand. Perhaps an "enhancement" of the award table is in the offing - after all the DL and UA tables have been enhanced over the last few years and AA's table seems almost an outlier now - with a couple of exceptions.

Sure... but you have to "prime" (or "load") the system first.

I wonder how things are with AAdvantage redemptions. Except DL which has just been turned down again, AA has one of the most restrictive set of rules for award redemptions of the major America-based FFPs. It's still good value in most cases, though (and who is eating up all that oneworld availability).

For one thing, an enhancement may simply be reducing the number of SAAver seats and thus increasing the number of tiered redemption seats (for AA and US redemption options).

This has already happened.Try getting a J or F sAAver award on AA international.Have disappeared for~the last 6 months. They can show up 1-2 weeks before the flight.Even Y sAAver awards sometimes don't appear until 1-2 months out.
I am looking at an award GYE-DFW next October.Checking over the last 6 months to see what availability is like and I have never seen a sAAver J award.Until the beginning of the year they were 30000 miles. It became 37500 miles as it is now a Level 2 award. At 11 months the anytime award is 105-130000 miles. At 3 months out they drop to 65000 miles. You can buy a J/F fare for $US1044 so valuing a mile at 1.6 cents US.I wont use miles unless I get at least 3 cents value and preferably more
