I haven't flown VA for a couple of months so apologies if this has been discussed - I did a search but found nothing.

I didn't get my reminder to check-in until about 36 hours before flying - I went into my bookings at about T-45 and couldn't check in so I don't know what they have done there but that wasn't my issue.

It used to be you could check in using your mobile and you'd be sent a text with the link to your boarding pass QR code. But now it just opens a webpage directly. That's nice in that it saves a step but then if you close that tab or whatever you have no link to go back to. Okay if you only do your check-in a few hours before flying but I check in at least a day earlier like most here I imagine.

I did get the offer of a tutorial when I first tried the new mobile check-in and clicked no as I can usually work these things out. But I was somewhat baffled as I couldn't see how to check my seat so went back and did the tute. Then I still couldn't do anything with the page I was given so did the tute again.

Am starting to wonder if I'm getting too old for Virgin (no I'm not over 50 yet) where they seem to want change for the sake of it or to appeal to an imaginary need of a younger generation (that makes me sound old).

you can still sms the link after checking in by clicking the sms icon and entering your phone number

If you go into the app again after check in, you'll have the ability to resend the SMS or Email.

I had a different problem last month. Checked in on mobile and got a link to the boarding pass. When I clicked on it, it went to the VA home page...

Thanks for the replies. I don't know why that link didn't appear the first time. My flight was cancelled and I got on the next flight - just got emailed the new itinerary and when I tried to check in using the link in that email it went to some weird "Sabre Virtually There" site where all my info was present but there was no way to check-in. I clicked on a log-in button which asked for my email or username (not my Velocity number) and password. It then didn't recognise my email and said I didn't have a password! So what is that site for?

I went back in via the website on the phone and clicked on the SMS button and now it's all sorted (even though I still don't like that interface). "... and I am happy to sit in 39D" - no I'm not!! Apparently you actually click the happy bit to change seats! Now that's intuitive!

The top link in the email goes to a virtually there page on all emailed e-tickets and itineraries.
Check in is a separate link I believe ( I've never checked in via the email)

I like the new system, its much quicker and more efficient than the previous, I used it a few times last week and this morning and it takes less than a minute including changing seats.

I guess it takes a while to get used to the change
