Just curious to know what happens if you miss a connection on an AAdvantage award ticket - flying on QR metal. Would they put you on the next available flight as for a revenue ticket?

There should be no material difference in the way a misconnect is handled. I would expect QR to look after you.

They will protect your connection. But how they protect it depends on the airline and your departure point. 'Next available flight' may mean 'next QR flight' or it could mean 'next flight any airline' depending on how the airline handles it.

Thanks for that. I have 2.5hrs to connect, so touch wood, enough of a buffer and maybe even time for a shower and bite to eat.

They might not protect your J or F class if no seats are available. This often happens on domestic misconnects when F is full of free upgrades.
