Middle East Airspace Closures [QF9 to LHR cancelled]

We are not wanted by the rest of the country, and nothing we do will ever be worthwhile, or if it is worthwhile, acknowledged.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. The taxes the iron ore miners pay Canberra are more than substantial 💰💰💰 :) and the Tasmania Treasury thanks you.
(Flame not! I'm on your side! I have no interest in non-stop to London, from PER or anywhere else, so I'm happy for those in Perth who do.)

We are booked on QF9 on Wednesday but Sunday it’s still showing ‘on time’ on the Qantas App!

Yes. It's been zeroed out though. I suspect there is so much uncertainty at the moment though. It possibly will change soon.

Tuesday 16th April looks the same, while Monday 15th sees QF209 operating via SIN.

Some of us in Melbourne still miss QF9/10 on the A380. I still want QF to bring back those flights to bring back capacity to LHR to what it used to be, but I don’t expect that to happen.

If the PER flights have to stop in SIN that takes away any advantage to flying via PER from outside WA.

It’s not like QF removed the SIN option though QF37 has been reinstated and connects well to QF1.

But there used to be two flights to LHR on QF A380. QF1 is just one A380. There’s still significantly less capacity to LHR than there used to be on QF but demand for classic rewards, upgrades etc. has probably gone up.

Two A380s to SIN doesn’t solve capacity for the next leg on to LHR

If PER to LHR has to divert to SIN long term then unless there’s enough PER based customers one would think loads would decrease on that route.

But maybe less people have LHR as their final destination or are prepared to transit via LHR as they used to be, hence offering Rome and Paris.

LHR has been my least favourite transit point for other cities in the UK, or Europe, for probably 10 years

Just noticed A380 VH-OQJ is operating QF331 from SYD to SIN its way to LGW

The timing of the 'old' QF9 was the main selling point for me. Midnight departure from Melbourne, and 2pm arrival into LHR. That made it bearable. The 6am arrival into LHR (or any other port after an overnight flight) just suck - I travel in Y.

Just got some info from Qantas for Wednesdays QF9 flight. Apparently the same plane will leave Perth via Singapore as QF 209 4 hours earlier to arrive at Heathrow at the scheduled time. Looks like I’m going to be leaving home in Melbourne around 4.00am to get to Perth in time.

I’d ring and ask to get put on QF35 or 37

The airspace has reopened and airlines are slowing coming back. Seems limited to non-western airlines at the moment (eg EK, QR, TK etc).

Well If you are in the Q Lounge in Perth
I am the guy wearing a Kookaburra Shirt....come over and say G'day.

It looks like we have more time to kill.
Sorry, I was in OOL. I was walking past after getting off the Skybus, heading to the QF lounge in T1.

(I don't use the second Skybus stop at T1; for me with carryon only it's quicker at T3.)
