MH Enrich Passenger Name change HELP!

Hi All,

I have booked 3 x J tickets SYD - FRA for travel next week using points. (booked 6 months ago)

One of the passengers is now unable to travel due to serious lung condition. I offered to supply a doctor's certificate.

I have emailed MH airlines reservations (call centre told me to do this) asking if I can substitute the sick passenger for another person. Just got an email back saying name change not allowed. Basically bad luck you lose points and taxes.

Any ideas or contacts on how I may be able to plead the case a bit more forcefully. Really at the end of the day what does it cost MH to change a name in the reservation. Everything else stays the same.

Doesn't seem very consumer friendly to me.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Tried to claim through travel insurance?

Airlines do this in a similar way they handle tickets. To avoid people buying all cheap fares/reward ticket then onselling for a higher price.

Sorry to hear for your travel companion. Maybe you can cancel and redeposit miles?

Re: MH Enrich Passenger Name change HELP!

MH are very rigid on changes to redemption bookings unfortunately. The miles won't be credited back into your account either. What you can do is cancel your friend's ticket and the booking will be on hold for 6 months. A new booking can be made for the ticketed passenger when they're ready to travel again for a very small fee. I'm not sure if the destination can be changed even if it's in the same zone but it's well worth asking MH about this.

Thanks for the feedback.

I will try customer relations as suggested by another member.
