Merchant Fees on Credit Cards

Just wondering if anyone nows what numbers on a visa card distinguish it as platinum, I have a merchant facility and have been processing a certain platinum visa card but it is only being charged the standard merchant fee not the premium (platinum) merchant fee hence this platinum is only charged at .71% instead of 2.00%.

I am not sure there is a single digit that can tell you that, or it needs to look up based on the six digit IIN (first six digits). There is a list on Wikipedia that may help

Is the bank charging you extra for premium cards, in your agreement? Not all banks do this.
