Membership Parental Pause

Your requal date was September 20 and it was paused before this on August 26. Had you already achieved the re-qualification before the pause?

No. That was when we had the baby. You can pause any time, it just happened to be near my requal date.

Once your membership pause ended on Jan 26, you received another years Plat membership form that date so I am thinking you might have met re-qualification before the pause

Nowhere near it. That is how the pause works. 12 months membership "recommences" when the 6 month pause ends. Like I said - sounds too good to be true but it is.

The other thing is, say someone had 600 Sc's towards Platinum re-qualification and then paused membership for 6 months however earned 200 SC's during the pause period, once the pause ends would those 200 SC's immediately start counting towards overall all SC's earned since your last review date meaning your would 800 Sc's and re-qualify as soon as the pause comes off? they must otherwise what is the point of still earning the SC's?

No. Your account is reset and starts from zero again when the pause ends, with 12 months to re qualify. That's what they are actually "pausing" for you - the need to accrue SC's for 6 months in order to keep your status. So you still earn them but you actually don't need them.

I should have known not to believe what the Virgin Rep said and read the terms myself! they really need to keep track of what the say and correct it if it's wrong.

Membership Pause| Velocity Frequent Flyer
All Silver, Gold and Platinum members have the opportunity to pause their membership for a 6 month period if they are expecting a new addition to the family. Following this pause, members will resume their membership status for a further 12 months.

All Members are entitled to apply for a Membership Pause for Parental Leave once for each child, up until that child reaches the age of two years. There may be up to two Member parents on Membership Pause for Parental Leave, for the same child, at any one time.

So if you have a child under 2, are Plat and not likely to requalify for plat, you can apply to pause, just before your review date,u still use the lounge with up to 3 guests etc in that period, then when the pause comes off you get a years Plat again plus the 4 free upgrades you would not have got if you did not requal for Plat! I should delete this post, have Virgin stuffed up again like the did with partner gold and plat?

Hi anyone had issues at the end of parental pause? my pause was due to end 5th March but have been advised by Virgin it wont come off and restart membership until 5th April as they give you a 1 month grace period, which I understand with normal renewal but cant see how this works with the end of parental pause. Will my status credits earned from 5th March still count to my next renewal? I have had this escalated 3 times but have been advised the same, so wondering if maybe someone else can advise there expreience.

Cheers

Cheeky question, given Mrs G is Gold, and we've had a new bub but have a lot of visiting family to do and have already booked. if we put her on parental pause, the T&Cs say she still gets points, but does she get her status bonus on these points too?

You get all the benefits of your status while paused. The best way to think about it is that all your Gold benefits apply while the pause is on, and what actually "pauses" is the need to earn SC's in order to keep your status. So when the pause is over you start again with 12 months to retain your Gold status.

Have been told on the phone (after activating my pause months ago after being told different) that benefits are only maintained with VA, not with partner airlines.

Have been told on the phone (after activating my pause months ago after being told different) that benefits are only maintained with VA, not with partner airlines.

My pause ends on 6 Feb 2015, with my card expiry date 6 Mar 2015. ( I am Gold).

On my account details page it says my Gold membership recommences from 6 Feb 2015 until 6 Feb 2016. I have flown a few times in the pause period and had normal lounge access for gold, only flown with VA though.

I have a flight on SQ in mid Feb, I assumed this meant that I would still have access to SQ lounges (as gold will be printed on my boarding pass and my card won;t have expired till 6 March 2015) as well as earn SC for renewal in the Feb 15 -Feb 16 period. Is that correct?

A new card will then be sent out sometime after 6 March 2015?

My call was escalated. I still have no card, but the manager has said that I will be eligible to use the EY lounge (though I couldn't ascertain whether they'd determined this as a one-off [and they'd done it based on my complaint] or if it is 'normal' [and the first few reps had been mistaken]). They said that they are preparing a letter which I must print and will allow me to use my expired card (as I am also overseas).

I can't get a straight answer about SCs counting or not counting, or when they will count. But at least you should get lounge access.
