scanning the various sites for a deal to DRW in the peak Jul period I have come across a new JQ daylight service MELDRW(JQ61) dep1235 arr1630...no midnight arrivals.:D ..as its a JQ 2 digit flight me thinks its an INT flight..so some further searches shows they intend to then OP DRWSIN...obvious Tiger response but much better timings.
as they havent promoted this yet ..expect some noice start up prices soon I expect

JQ61 DRW-SIN 18:00-20:45 $89 Jetsaver before taxes. $266 after tax.

Don't seem to be able to book MEL-SIN on JQ61 in one ticket though.

So in good old LCC form, you will need to purchase two tickets, which are then deemed to be separate tickets, so you need to collect your checked bags (max 10kg before the excess baggage surcharge) and recheck them at DRW for the flight to SIN (paying the excess baggage fine once again).

OK, maybe not an accurate depiction of the situation, but ...

So the timing is better than Tiger for the northern direction, but how does the return schedule look  . I assume this is a single-class A320 aircraft. Are the MEL-DRW and DRW-SIN both operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia, or a combination of the two with an aircraft change?

But it is still a cheap way to get to SIN and possibly beyond.

on the return 2240 ex sin into Per 0430.
DRWMEL 0610/1045..again daylight.
I suspect if this is just loaded they have to decide if the current JQ asai svc is to get the chop as part of the deal. once DRWSIN punters are moved to the new flights they will offer SINMEL..this is def a tiger response so they will offer SINMEL fares

Flights are being sold thru fares MEL-SIN & SIN-MEL, price at the moment for return fare is $716, or $810 if you want to be entertained, fed and watered.

Fare wasn't loaded when I tried a few hours ago. It is now.

For MEL-drw-SIN
$197 before tax.
$379 after.

Jetflex is expensive, and no starclass (yet).
