I know Amex has recently been advertising Melb Airport accepting Amex, but I was there last night. When I put my Amex into the payment machine, it says, 'Unknown ticket'. Tried it three times. Then put through the Citi Visa and it's fine.

Didn't notice any credit card stickers on the Level 2 machine either.

It certainly accepts mine (at least of a few weeks ago)...what kind of Amex card do you have?

I've had this happen with the machines at BNE Dom.

I just keep putting the card in until it accepts it! Last time i almost wondered if it was semi-intentional to get you to use Visa/MC!!

No problem for me on the weekend - but that was in the business parking section.

I have had the same thoughts at other places.

Swipe AMEX, gets declined, they ask for other payment type but I have said try again and then it works, makes me think they just want you to pay cash/eftpos/visa/mc.

Machines in carparks quite often reject my AMEX but work second time.
