Not a frequent traveller, usually about half a dozen domestic and a couple of O/s trips a year.
Had to go to Melbourne this week and thought I would give DJ a try on the way back last night.

My impressions of the flight

Good

Liked the IFE (watched some Rugby)
Pleasant FA’s onboard
Easier access with both front and rear doors used.

Not so Good

Plane departed about 20 min late, also sat on the Tarmac at Sydney for 15min waiting for a spare slot.

Only a RED FF and when I went to use online seat selection my choice was the seat allocated 17B or another further down the back also a B seat. At bag drop I asked politely if there was a better seat. Was asked my preference and given an aisle toward the back. Why this wasn’t available to me at online check in I don’t know.

Had a Flexifare, but no meal offered on the first run through. After a while the FA came up and told me no more meals available, please pick two items from the menu.

Apart from the above it was quite a pleasant flight. Personally I would still choose Qantas over DJ, just don’t think they are quite there yet.
