Media: Ex-Wallaby kicked out of US

FORMER Wallaby star Tony Daly was last night deported from the US amid an FBI investigation into an alleged theft aboard a Qantas jet.

Daly - who was not charged - will arrive in Sydney this morning after being detained and questioned by FBI officers at Los Angeles airport.

However, just moments before leaving Los Angeles last night, Daly said his deportation was due to a previous driving offence in the US.

"In 2004 I had a car accident in the States and I didn't turn up to court," he said.

"I can't come into the country because of that reason. I would have had to come back to Australia anyway."

Asked why he had attempted to enter the US knowing of the restriction, Daly replied: "I thought we were just going through transit and didn't have to go through customs."

Now if he had read AFF, he would have known there is no such thing as international transit in the USA these days.

On the inbound he will get the points...not so sure about the flight home as i think he will be travelling on a special ticket.

Sounds to me like he is lucky he was not arrested, given that there must be an outstanding warrant, though they may have given him the choice. Go to jail or be deported, which would you choose :!:
