Hi there

Does anyone know how much time it would take to transfer from a flight arriving at Macau to one departing Hong Kong?

Thinking of doing MEL-DRW-SIN-MFM/HKG-LGW with Tiger & Oasis in Feb 08.

Priced this at A$997 return incl taxes:D

Cheers

I think the ferry from MFM-HKG takes around 45-60 minutes but operates at regular intervals. You also need to consider whether your luggage will be checked all the way through, unlikely with LCCs, and do you have onward boarding passes and whether incoming flights arrives on time.

There are 3 flight sectors on your itinerary from MEL-MFM. Anything can go wrong. You will probably need at least 3-5 hours, even better if you had overnight connection, if collecting luggage and needing to check in for onward flight. Actual recommended minimum connection time? Anywhere from 120-240 minutes.

I think you would need to collect your luggage and bring it with you and check in at Hkg Airport.
I would give it a minimum of 5 hours to be on the safe side.

The Oasis flight leaves at 00:50, so if you connect from the TT MEL-SIN (Arriving 0350) to the TR SIN-MFM (Dep: 0600 Arr: 0935) you'd have all day to get to HKG. To be on the safe side you could take a later SIN-MFM so that way there's plenty of time between connections.

How did you get to $997 if you don't mine me asking. Best I could get was about $1200

I did a google search and the best I got was this:

Between Macau ferry terminal and HK airport operate just a few non-stop ferries: the first one leaving at 8.15 (only tuesday and friday) the next one at 9.30 (daily) plus another 3-4 sailings later during the day...
All other ferries go to HK city ! (very frequent, though)
Journey time to HK airport on the non-stop services is ca. 50 mins. To HK city it´s 55 mins (but then you still need to go by train to the airport - which will add up to roughly 2 hrs altogether)

From MFM airport to the ferry terminal it´ll take about 15-30 mins by taxi / bus. But taxi´s are rather inexpensive...

So, going by Viva Macau will only have some inconvinience due to the need to use a ferry/train to HKG airport. But if not too much in a hurry it´s a nice experience.

Maybe it'd be easier to go SIN-HKG on Jetstar? Probably not a heap more than Tiger to Macau.

 Oops, you are quite correct. I left out the taxes on the SIN-MFM-SIN sectors.

All sectors now incl tax.

MELSIN TT/TR 270.00 02FEB
SINMFM TR 57.89 03FEB
HKGLGW O8 268.25 04FEB
LGWHKG O8 355.34 25FEB
MFMSIN TR 51.67 27FEB
SINMEL TR/TT 197.65 27FEB
1200.80

Having seperate bookings MEL-SIN & SIN-MEL saves $31.35 over $499 fare

I wonder if Air Asia will beat this on a AVV-KUL-STN routing:rolleyes:
