Hi,
I've saved up a stack of Qantas FF points and never used them.

I'd like to book a One World trip on points in June/July next year- I believe its 35,000miles max, with 5 stops.
I have to be in London on about the 3rd July for a wedding on the 5th July in Cardiff.

I did want to go to Brazil for some of the World Cup (Australia's games are on the 13th, 18th and 23rd of June), but understand that Award flights might be impossible at that time.

If South America is possible, I was thinking Sydney, Brazil, New York, London, Amsterdam, Sydney.
If not possible, maybe Central America, or Mexico, or Cuba, instead.

I'm open to suggestions and ideas and happy to pay for the expertise!
;)

Hey mate, Sth America is very unlikely.

You won't be able to make Cuba either as AA doesn't fly there. The rest of Mexico and Central America could be reached from Dallas or Miami (and some from Los Angeles).

Sounds like your stopovers will be New York, London, Amsterdam so you have two other stopovers available. It would be very hard to choose two in Central America unless you flew back into Dallas or Miami between flights.

What about Sydney, Mexico (seperate trip to/from Cuba), New York, London, Amsterdam, Sydney?

That is a relatively simple itinerary and should be possible.

Have you looked at any availability using the Qantas award booking engine? South America could be an issue unless you can get the direct QF/LAN flights.

Thanks John,
Yes I've tried a few times and it keeps coming up with a fault and directing me to call Qantas.
I tried to call once too and spent ages on the phone and got nowhere.

I'll try them again..

What exact routing are you entering into the QF engine for it to request you call? At what point in the process is this happening?

If you've saved up a whole stack of points just make sure you have some activity eg flight/hotel/car credited to your account because if you have more than 18 months without any activity you'll lose the points. This could even be a Woollies shop $31.00 or more where you have an Everyday Rewards Account & you remember to swipe the card at the checkout so the points will be credited to your QF f/flyer account.

There are too many sad stories around from people who have not monitored their f/flyer account & the expiry date of the points.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I've got my Credit card linked, so eliminates that issue.
Have lost points i had in the past with United and with no Ansett around to claim domestic travel!

Hi vec, love the rotary!

I've tried this, and variations of it:
SYD-GIG 11 Jun
GIG-JFK 22 Jun
JFK-LHR 1 Jul
LHR-AMS 7 Jul
AMS-SYD 16 Jul.

I get thsi message:
Qantas.com flight search error:
We are unable to find the flight recommendations for requested segment (s) %s to %s on airlines that we search. (#9207)

Very frustrating..

Agreed, around that time there is zero availability.

You don't have much chance of a 280k J award at this late notice for June/July however the 140k is quite possible with a routing something like

SYD-DFW-MEX-DFW-LGA/JFK-LHR-AMS-HEL-HKG-SYD

Around the dates you're after, with stops in MEX, NYC, LHR and AMS (you could also add a stop in HEL or HKG or somewhere else)

This prices out at 140k points and 1351.46 in taxes/fines.
