Hey Guys,

New to SPG and MasterCard programs so any help might be appreciated. I'm looking for a few nights at the Gold Coast and came across the MasterCard promotion for 20% if you stay minimum 2 nights.

I had a look at it and compared it to the first lot of rates I got before I saw the MasterCard offer.

If I do the search through the main SPG Website, the Room rate is $274 a night with a total of $548 for 2 nights.

If I do the same search through the promotion link on the MasterCard Privileges for 20% off the rates I get a rate of $294 per night for a total of $588 for 2 nights.

Anyone have a clue why that might be happening. I would have thought the 20% off discount would have been from the lowest rates available.

Cheers Ambo

Not 100% sure of the situation with SPG but hotel quoted discounts are often from the Best Available Flexible rate. This is a bit of a bugbear of mine as the correct comparison is with the Best Available Advanced Purchase Rate as the discount rate is usually not flexible. I often end up using AAA (or Govt) rate

Makes sense Andye,

Thank you for the clarification.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be doing gov rates when I plan to be up.
