Marriott properties that are eligible for American Express bonus points

I have the USA American Express Bon Voy credit card (https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card/marriott-bonvoy-brilliant/) that provides "EARN 6X MARRIOTT BONVOY POINTS
on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels"....

I've just booked a stay at a Sheraton titled resort in APAC and didn't receive the 6 x bonus points so spoke to Amex and they said this property wasn't a participating hotel... So I asked Amex how do I know if it's a participating hotel or not and they just directed me to the Marriott website.

I've tried to do extensive searching online but cannot find a list or explanation at all as to what makes a property included in this bonus points list...

Does anyone here know more about this?

I recommend you ask this on Flyertalk where you will find more USA based folks who have the exact same problem as you. You will likely have to escalate this to a customer service rep. Is the word Sheraton in the name of the property? That is usually the problem.

In a nutshell you should be safe provided you meet this criteria:

You will receive 4 additional points (for a total of 6 points) for each U.S. dollar of eligible purchases charged on your Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card when charged directly with participating Marriott Bonvoy properties (excluding home share properties), standalone Marriott branded retail establishments, and Marriott branded online stores (including online purchases of Marriott branded gift cards) that, in each case, are wholly owned or managed by Marriott International, Inc and its affiliates. Eligible purchases means purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits.


Any time you use a 'country' card overseas you will have a high rate of failures especially with hotels that don't have a straightforward name like Marriott 'City' or Sheraton 'Town' etc.

It is quite confusing. I'm also still waiting to hear back from Amex support for them to tell my why the resort isn't included, and where a list of included bonus point resorts is listed....

This resort is called the "Sheraton Deva and Spa Resort"... So since it's got Sheraton in the name and is not a country residence type property I thought it'd be applicable... But maybe that's the issue? It needs to have Marriott in the name now instead of Sheraton??
 
No that should be fine ... they simply have to manually do it. Push the Amex folks (i.e. escalate the issue ..you may need to do a phone call with them).

If the issue persists ..PM me and I will send you an email address that may help but best to get Amex to do it via their contacts with Marriott.

You are on to something though that a lot of partners are still updating their datasets to include non-original Marriott properties.

So right on the dot of the 8th week I get an email from Amex saying "only purchases at hotels, resorts and retailers involved in the Bonvoy program are eligible to receive double points".

Which that statement is also incorrect as my card allows for 6 x points for the above. ...

So I go to my account activity on the Amex website where they now show how many points you earnt per transaction which is a great feature, and ironically my check out charges at the exact same hotel (exact same name on the transaction) have posted and it shows "6 x points earnt"!!!

I've asked them to rectify things and can you believe it, they say I need to wait another 8 weeks as they have to reopen the case and there's nothing they can do!

Unbelievable. I even sent them a screen recording of their website showing the identical transaction names and they can't escalate or do anything expect reopen the ticket. 👎🏼
