Malaysia J class release

Hello

I am looking at booking a trip to KL with my family next year during school holidays. I see that I can find Business reward seats via Qantas x2 and then can get economy tickets for the other two family members. I was considering buying the two for my wife and oldest daughter and then flying economy with my youngest.

Does Malaysia Airlines tend to release J flights on award closer to the flight? I am happy to cancel the economy flights to rebook into J flights altogether, just wanted to see my chances!

Hello Bbjal, why not just find another 2 seats the following day or from a different airport? They fly to SYD,MEL and BNE now. From my experience, they do not tend to release seats close in. I might be wrong but that is just my data point.

My wife doesn’t want to fly apart unfortunately. So I guess finding 4 seats is going to be too hard she would rather us all fly economy. I am based in Sydney but hadn’t thought about Brisbane will try that!

BNE will only have 5 weekly flights whereas MEL will be served with 3 daily one of which is on the new A330neo

yes looks like the best bet is actually the Sydney to KL flight but since I can only get two tickets wife wants us to just get 4 economy flights to fly together.

We found they were releasing 4 seats at a time when we booked; we have four of us in J to KL in September.

Ahhh I might just have to wait then? Seems I missed the initial boat to it since I am looking for July 8

ended up booking two flights in J and two flights in U. Probably switch the kids over mid flight to be fair and I will slum it out in Economy! hopefully closer to the date there will be some J flights opening up and I will try and get them on award!
