Hi all,

I know there are a few here who are big Formula 1 fans...I'm hoping some have been to Malaysia and have some advice on where to sit.

I've done some googling but as usual with these things, most have a different opinion and don't explain it properly.

So far I have gathered that it's a choice of the straights (pit side preferably) but the first corner stands do intrigue me too.

So if you have any comments or advice on the best area of the circuit to sit (undercover would be a given, considering the recent history of the race!) I am all ears :)

(A list of grandstands is available here Online Ticketing | Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia)

Thanks!

Must_Fly,

Per my tripreport last year I recommend first corner, As you essentially see the main straight, 1, 2, the straight to 4 and 4.
The prices are also substantially cheaper, particularly with the early birds.

On the Friday you have run of course anyway (there is almost no-one there) so can sit in the main gstand and see the pits.

For the Saturday/Sunday
Either down the front for afternoon shade and seating,
or back row where you can stand and also be closest to the drink tents behind the stands.

Am likely to be back there again this year

i have been 4 times. My favorite location is middle topaz because you see a great deal of the track, are undercover and it's not as noisy as pit lane which echoes really bad. At the end of the race there is ample time to walk over and see the presentation. I have never sat in the tower however. On Friday you can sit anywhere.

Facepalm, forgot to check your TR again moa999. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

I guessed we could sit anywhere on Friday so that's good. Leaning towards Turn 1 now because it's cheap but Topaz I was also looking at - but being on the opposite side of the pits there doesn't attract my very much. I'm leaning towards turn 1 for now.

I'm up for an AFF meet of some sort at some point of the weekend!

we always sit in the Tower........but this year, some dude has booked the whole thing for a private party............$$##SS hole......waiting on further instructions from management of Sepang Circuit for further advice as to what is available. definetly spend time in K1 for at least 1 session,we always do a friday session there at least. we prefer the tower, but no screen down there, but between a few of us, we own Kangaroo Tv's so not so bad. book before 31 december, and it's a lot cheaper. do NOT consider sitting anywhere else basically out of the Mall/Main Straight area. you will end up at KLIA airport otherwise, with no facilities at all. you'll be lucky to buy that umbrella you'll need at 4pm

We always sit in Citrine but wander across illegally to watch the start in Crystal. Citrine gives view of overtaking on the back straight into the hairpin and also gives a great view of cars bleating round the back of the circuit and up the hill
