I want to buy a Lumix FZ100 before I head overseas, but only Teds and Michaels seem to have it, and never on sale. I'm not keen to buy on eBay etc due to imported stock and potential warrenty issues. Can anyone suggest where else to look?

I have a friend who is a professional photographer and he actually recommends buying from eBay . Service is always quick even for warranty claims, so it may not be as bad as you think

Try Photo Buff online (they're in Melbourne somewhere, much cheaper than the big stores as they still source stock directly from overseas but still provide a local warranty). I've used them for a few things, and they were recommended to me by a friend who is a professional photographer.

As far as I can tell, they seem to have closed. Found a store in Melb called Digital Camera Warehouse which seems worth checking out...

try www.staticice.com.au to search for cheap electronic stuff ... i find that site pretty good to pinpoint cheap/est stuff where I just go straight to the vendor and pay/pick up :)

That's disappointing as they were great. Has been a few years since I've bought anything from them.

I have previously used Digital camera warehouse .... They were very good and also stock the model you are after. They sell online and also have stores in Mel, syd and bris....

They will price match most prices.... So just tell them what the best price you've seen is and ask them to match it. They will also sell it duty free.... Their website is digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au.

Teds $779, DCW $660, another option is eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au shows pricing at $379 but they are hong kong based.... I would print out the page from DCW on take it to Teds to see if they can better it.... Also call DCW and ask what is the best price they can do..... Happy hunting.....

Thats not a bad idea, thanks :D Teds at Chadstone seemed to be out of stock but there are a few others not too far from me.

I bought the FZ100 a few months ago prior to my overseas trip. SPent some time looking around and whilst many retailers had it, they were "australian stock" and many hundreds more.

Came across a website called camerasdirect.com.au based on the Gold Coast. They do parallel import, but back it up with a local warranty. You can also buy a MACK international warranty which I did for a small fee.

And they are GST registered so I got my GST back on the way out.

They operate out of a brick & mortar storefront on the Gold Coast so I saved myself the delivery fee and picked it up myself. Helpful folks, good prices, trustworthy. Couldn't have asked for more.

Hope that helps.

BTW the FZ100 is an AWESOME camera. I'm never going back to Nikon or Canon or Sony.

Great to hear from someone who has one. I've been researching for almost 12 months and they seem to be the best.

3 years ago bought a Lumix TZ15 & love it. It's called something else in the US (maybe TZ10?). Bought it from the local Camera Store. gst returned when I went overseas within 30 days.

Camerasdirect dot com.au is a place recommended to me by a friend in Qld who is a professional photographer & also by a couple of engineer friends who are into photography. I bought some other serious camera equipment from them, (SLR & a number of lenses) delivered within 1 and 2 working days. Plenty of personalised over the phone help, as well as on-site if you can get there. At the time, they were not selling the compact cameras.

Hi, I felt the same way about buying o/s too. However, I bought one in January through ebay and paid with PayPal from Hong Kong - citiwide-online $457.99 AUD. Delivered via EMS (Hong Kong Post Speedpost) without a hiccup. It was for the US market, so it has a small adaptor for the charger.
From memory, they weren't the absolute cheapest, but they have a huge feedback number with a range of different included extras. It is an excellent camera.

Bought the camera today. Teds werent too keen on going as low as I wanted, then found that they didn't have any stock, nor did Panasonic. Went to JB hi fi and they matched the price without even seeing any proof. Looking forward to getting it out for a play.

Thanks everyone for all the advice :D
