Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA), Europe's second biggest airline, will combine short-haul operations outside its main Frankfurt and Munich hubs with the Germanwings low-cost unit as part of a cost-reduction effort.

There is some similarity with the QF/JQ model.

Similarity - I would have gone with carbon copy of what every major legacy carrier I can think of in recent history has done in the last 10-20 years.
DL had Song
AC has Jazz
SQ has Silk Air
MH has Firefly
and so on.
