Had a quick look and didn't see anything obvious to suggest this has been posted before - apologies if it has though...

Has anyone else had their Saver (or Saver Lite) fares magically transform into Flexis after using the "fly ahead" benefit to change flights recently?

I'm now two-from-two this month, both SYD-MEL. The first flight (early Feb) I was unexpectedly given a meal onboard, and later Flexi SCs posted. The second was today - no SCs have posted (at all) yet, but again was given a meal when shouldn't have been so I'm assuming the same thing has happened again.

I've had one change slightly from what I expected when using fly ahead. But no meal and no flexi SC. Still I got flew ahead to a flight due to depart in 35 minutes.

Used Fly Ahead on Sunday and she specifically said there were no Saver tickets left so she had to get someone at main desk to change it - otherwise i'd have ended up with a Flexi seat and a meal (which I wouldn't have complained about!)

So obviously if the desk agent doesn't do it properly - you could end up with a Flexi - sadly my girl followed the correct procedure :(

I guess maybe that's what happened... I think that possibly it was the same lounge agent who made the change for me both times, but the first one was too long ago to be sure.

Oh well, just lucky I guess. Kinda makes up for my seat magically changing from 3A to 11B today, and also the on-board op-up of someone who I'm pretty sure was the only other WP on the flight while I got ignored (almost empty J cabin, so not a capacity-based decision). Not that I ever expect an op-up, but the circumstances did annoy me a bit.

It's not something I'd advertise openly. Too many such anecdotes and a directive could quite possibly come from VA HQ to stop that happening.

Is there any way I can delete this thread on my own? I can't spot one. Flagged it and asked for delete, but that was quite a while ago and nada so far.

You could edit your original post until deletion?

Aye, but I can't edit the thread title, nor comments by others, which would still make it all pretty obvious.

EDIT: Just noticed that a mod has already edited the thread title for me. But now I can't edit my original post, nor first follow-up post, as the editing time limit has expired.
