Can anyone tell me whether I can access the Lounge at Narita if I'm travelling Star Class to OOL.

I'm departing Thursday 9th April @ 20:00

Cheers

Yes you can. Cant remember exactly what the lounge is, some kind of affilate/partner lounge and from memory its nothing special but a lounge with free drinks and some food it is.

Cheers

Yes I did NRT - OOL and I used the Qantas Club - no hassles.

Whilst we are on the topic anyone know if the Sakura F lounge at NRT has showers?

Yes you can access the QP if you're flying Starclass.

For Dragonman - yes the Sakura First Lounge has showers. They're quite nice, but not quite up there with the QF Syd/Mel Flounge showers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Of course, its a QP in NRT - Doh!
I was getting mixed up with KIX where I think its an affiliate lounge, not a QP per se.

KIX is an affiliate lounge - Asuka Lounge - which is shared with NW, UA and AY. Only JQ StarClass pax can get in - oneworld or QFF status is completely irrelevant.

Not a lounge to write home about. It's cosy enough. No showers, some iMacs to bide the time away (I think they are a bit restricted on access), I think only one or two types of beer, three wines (one of each type) and some basic foodstuffs - only warm food is some sweet danishes and croissants. When the lounge is busy, don't expect to eat any :)

When you check in at KIX you get a named coupon to get you into the lounge.

I think KIX Sakura Lounge used to be a QF affiliate lounge, but no more. On the other had, NRT is a full fledged QF operated QP.

NRT has a Qantas J lounge, JQi StarClass passenger have access.

If you have access to either the J or F Sakura lounges, I'd suggest you use them first before taking the train over to the QF J lounge near gate 82 to await boarding (~20 minutes before boarding is scheduled is a reasonable time).

There is a significant difference in quality/amenity between even the respective J lounges, let alone the F lounge.

A OW Sapphire travelling on QF will have access to the J Sakura Lounge, I suppose?

Exactly!

I found the QF Lounge somewhat of a disappointment; although it's quite new - and does have beer pouring machines ...

Sorry to be daft...don't JAl and QF both leave from terminal 2? Why do you need to catch a train?... aha! QF lounge is in the satellite building of T2? do you have a link to the location of the Sakura lounge? Ta!

See here:

NRT - Google Maps

The Sakura Lounges (F&J) are almost directly under the text:

..Airport
Terminal 2

Use the "South" emigration and is almost directly in front as you come out.

The QP is at the LH neck (the thick bit) of the satellite terminal about the middle of the upper right quadrant of the image.

Thanks for the tip serfty:idea:. I used the J Sakura lounge 2 nites ago at NRT, having arrived 3.5 hours prior to my QF flight to Syd...had a lovely beef curry and rice dinner, with a seafood bisque soup, washed down with lots of nice wines, and even tried a beer from those beer pouring machines (broke a glass though as I got my finger trapped between the glass and the nozzle:oops:)...then proceeded to have a nice hot shower in their superb shower suites, before relaxing on their comfy lounge chairs with a nice cappucino and another glass of white wine.

Headed off to the QF lounge just under an hour before departure, and spent about 20-25 minutes in the vastly inferior QF lounge (crowded, no hot food etc etc)!! The only advantage the QF lounge had over the Sakura lounge were Australian newspapers from the day before....but nothing you couldn't read online, tho!
