Does anyone have any experience flying DL16 SYD-LAX in coach as a VA Gold or Platinum since Delta changed the lounge access rules on 1 May 2014?

Delta's own elites and Skyteam Elite Plusses no longer get status-based access to third party lounges (including the Koru Club) when flying on Delta-operated flights, but does that apply to VA elites?

I would assume so, but VA's web site explicitly says that Golds get access to the Koru Lounge when flying Delta.

(Of course, VA elites generally get better lounge access on DL metal than DL elites, as VA Gold+ but not DL Gold+ get access to Sky Clubs with a DL domestic itinerary. Not directly relevant here, but a reason to believe it's *possible* the rules might be different for VA elites.)

As SYD is specifically called out on the Velocity website for travel with DL, I would expect that you will be able to access the Koru club (though I don't know for sure, as I've thankfully not had to subject myself to DL whY for SYD-LAX). If not, you could pay for access, get a receipt and ask Velocity to reimburse you based on the information on their website.

It will be interesting to see if access to the SkyTeam lounge in SYD will be offered once it is open..
