lounge access; between DOM J and DOM Y

Hi,
Booked a flight PER-DPO (via MEL) in Business, but of course am involuntarily in Y for MEL-DPO because there is no J on that flight. But since it is all one ticket/booking, will I get lounge access in MEL?
Further info: this is on QF, a Classic Award (don't think that matters?), and am a peasant Bronze.

Overnight J PER-MEL can get access on arrival in MEL:

Thanks very much Austman. Figured there was probably some further info I hadn't thought to include: my PER-MEL is not an overnight flight, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately... ).

In that case you are probably out of luck I'm afraid; domestic lounge access without status is based on next departing flight, not previous.

Of course it never hurts to try.

Thanks opusman. Yeah, I suspect you might be right. Just seems unfair when we have booked a business class ticket at business class award rates, which just so happens to be made up of two flights, one of which has no J class. Point being, we would have been in J on the 2nd flight if it was available, and have effectively paid for J only to sit in Y...anyway, to paraphrase that 'old' saying, it's a fool who looks for logic in the chambers of the lounge access rules.

Are you sure? I've noted that the QF website now can reprice awards if one sector was not in business.

Yep, I'm sure - just double-checked using the reward table, and reward calculator. (Used Perth-Hobart in the calculator, just to be sure, since Hobart is further and does have J on the Mel-Hba leg; same points as we paid.)

Then it's just to see if the lounge staff are agreeable. You never know your luck.
