looking for a good hotel in Singapore

Hi all

what thoughts on the current best hotel in Singapore. Used to be a regular business visitor but it is now 6 years since I last stayed overnight. Looking for last week August
all suggestions gratefully considered.

Depends to some degree on where you want to be located. If you want to be near the downtown end, then I would suggest the Fullarton. Alternatively, if you want to be closer to Orchard Rd, I would suggest the St Regis. Mandarin Oriental is also good.

I would recommend the Pan Pacific Singapore (Marina Square) for a good 5* - see reviews on Tripadvisor. 20min cab ride to airport, easy underground 10min walk to railway stn. Heading back for a few days in 2011.

The Fairmont is decent, especially for its price. Might not be the absolute best but it's great, especially the service. Going for another week mid july

This is what I do:

Find out where all the good stuff is, load up google maps and find hotels nearby.

Everything is an $8 cab ride away in Singapore so you can't really get it wrong!

Shangri La is great, as is the Mandarin oriental. Both different locations but both great hotels.

We are heading back to Singapore the first week of August and staying at the Pan Pacific (Marina) based on trip advisor reviews and friends opinions. However, what ever you decide I would book fairly quickly as the Summer Youth Olympics are being held in Singapore at the the time you are going and we found things were booking up quickly even for the time we are going which is just before they start.

Most definitely - top class hotel and service with free limo to/from airport.
