Has anybody negotiated long stay rates(>2 weeks) with the Hilton before and if so can shed some light on possibilities here.

I have not done it but would probably ring the property itself and see what they can do or send an e mail directly to the property and see what they offer.

You might have to for go HH Points.

Has anyone inadvertently booked a "long stay rate" without knowing it, and then not been awarded Hhonors points / eligible nights?

I booked 6 nights at a Hilton (I won't mention it yet, whilst I figure out how to resolve this) and have noticed there are no points in my Hhonors account a couple of weeks later. In fact, whilst the booking showed in my Hhonors account before the stay, there is no reference to it at all in my account anymore.

I pulled out the receipt to enter the details into the Missing Stay form on the HHonors site, and I notice down the bottom it says in small writing (maybe 8 point) "Please note our long stay rates are not eligible for Hhonors points." Of course, I did not notice this when checking out.

There is no reference to a long stay rate on my booking, so I am not sure if this has been deemed a long stay rate, or that text is always written there by this hotel.
I will be disappointed if it doesn't work out, as this stay would have taken me over the re-qualification requirement for Gold for 2014.

I will have to wait one month for the Missing Stay to be processed, but hopefully that credits the points and eligible nights to my account. Does anyone have a better idea for how to follow this up? Is it worth a call after a few days to follow up the Missing Stay form?

I can't really help with the question, however I would have thought 6 nights was hardly a long stay ?

Hilton has some rates which they describe as "long stay". I stayed at Hilton Lake Taupo on a "long stay" rate (which was considerably cheaper) and the stay was about 7 or 8 days IIRC. The stay however, certainly credited as points earning, stay earning, miles earning and night earning, so to DeKa, I'd stay on their case over that one unless there is something that clearly states it doesn't earn (which one would expect should have been spelt out before purchase).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I contacted HHonors customer care and they immediately credited the stay. Excellent. Can't ask for more than that. I guess the hotel made a mistake.

I just wanted to add, I could have contacted customer care first but I was keen to know if anyone else had experienced this before so I could be ready to respond if the response from Hhonors was negative. Thankfully it wasn't :)

That's what I think too. Thanks for the feedback.

It's not Hilton but in the family. I have just completed a 9 day stay at the Hampton Inn Crosstown in Boston (was working at BMC next door) for 9 days and wasn't considered a long stay.

I regularly stay 6 days at Melbourne HOTP for a course they're making me do at Melbourne Uni and have never had it measure as a long stay.

Worth questioning, methinks. Particularly as you say it was an inadvertent 'long stay' request. If it wasn't made clear before the booking was confirmed one would think they don't have a leg to stand on.

I've approached about 10 Hiltons (the Reservation Manager or similar I found at Members or using Linkedin) in NYC regarding a rate for a one month stay. Every response was either they don't have long stay rates or the rate offered was above what I could book with AAA or MVP.
