Lonely Planet giving away free iPhone City Guide apps

I work for LP. Would love to know what you guys think of these apps.

I would love for them to be universal iphone/ipad apps - I really don't like the 2x feature on the iPad to make them fill the screen.

I tweeted about this yesterday, but I thought one of you would have posted the same already...

A lot of the European city guides are free for the next day or so. The excuse is the snow storm leaving people stuck there. :)

Thankyou :) :) I've just downloaded them all and made a new LP Travel Folder

I clicked through a few, but can’t download them in Fiji on my limited internet, so just hope they’ll download properly in a few days time!

thx for posting. I'm now the proud owner of 7 or 8 more of them. :)

Wi-Fi at work doesn't work well down my end of the building though, so had to wander up and sit next to the router for 20 mins or so at the end of the day.

Will be interesting to see if it works as they're only supposed to be available for 48 hours.

I'm stuck in Sydney downloading to the iphone direct with the hotel wifi. In airplane mode with wifi turned on because the download would blow my 200mb 3G limit. SWMBO was far to busy to turn on the home computer (in adelaide) that i sync the iphone with, and download them before I get home tomorrow night.

I wasn't prepared to download to my macbook as I think that would stop me downloading the apps to my main computer, iirc. Anyone know anything about if I've got that right or wrong?

MEDHEAD - It shouldn't stop you downloading them to your phone/pad. If you can't download them directly you can always re-download on your main PC anyway.

iTunes will ask you if you want to puchase the app but once you click yes it says something along the lines of 'you have already purchased this app, do you want to re download it?'

You could always transfer them between the 2 computers, I assume you have a LAN at home?

Well technically I’ve "bought" them at this stage, so at a later date if I want to re-download them, there should be no issue.

Thanks for the tips. I had a play with iTunes and saw something about sharing with my other computers. Also saw a prompt about waiting downloads, i guess that means purchasing but not downloading would have worked. Also didn't realise about the redownload. I'd only ever tried this with getting songs downloaded to the Mini onto my main computer. That didn't seem to work

Anyway all done now.

You can’t re-download purchased songs without paying again, but apps can be downloaded again if you’ve already purchased them.

So you can simply log in with your iTubes account on a different computer and re-download, or turn on iTunes Home Sharing.

Fantastic :) I'm travelling right across the US later this year so these will come in handy.
