Hi All,

Just looking for some tips for where to stay in London.

Hoping to be close to a few bars and walking distance to sites/tube, but will need two rooms, 1 king and another 2 doubles, trying to find something under 250AUD a night of Mecure, Novotel etc standard. Looking at the travel comparison booking sites, some of the boutique hotels just seem downright depressing.

I have corporate rates for Sofitel and a few others, but they're still 200GBP+

Cheers.

Copthorne Tara in South Kensington. Not a bad pub, reasonably close, but the biggest giggle is the Breakfast service, its like Fawlty Towers - a real crackup, especially if you try to order anything not strictly on the Menu (like Apple Juice), or try to get your own cereal from the central service area (looks like self service, but isn't - its the only time you see the staff move quickly).

Do you have hotel points, or can you move points into a hotel loyalty scheme? That's one way Australians stay at some VERY nice hotels in London!

I have some SPG points and a corporate membership - have done a few 3 nights stays at Westin Sydney. Still dirty at Hyatt for never giving me points or QFFs for a $5k stay at the Grant Hyatt Melbourne in 2007 (at $200 a night - go figure..). I had 5 nights at the Andanz in NY earlier this year which I couldn't seem to credit at the time so will also have to ring them about that.

Never really figured out the whole hotel points business. I'd imagine none of them would be enough for a free night. Can you use them in a points-plus-pay way?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I stayed recently at Novotel Blackfriars. Brand new and very nice. In good location too in Southwark. Pricing was also good.

Looking for accommodation in London early May for 3 nights for 3 adults.

Pref. Accor though will consider other chains. Recommendations appreciated.
