Any favourite hotel haunts in London <100 Euro a night? Fly into Stansted midday Fri in early June & fly out of Heathrow around midday Sun on Qantas. Just 2 adults, 1st visit to London soprobably just do touristy things & look for a relatively cheap beer at night. Appreciate any tips on best areas for easy getting around.

My first choice is usually Paddington Hilton and can often be had for less than E100. Its right at Paddington station so you have the choice of Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect for the easiest journey to LHR, as well as the Underground for getting around London. Restaurants an pubs available in the streets around the hotel.

Thanks NM. Hilton certainly reads well but with no codes/discounts for 5th & 6th June rates look closer to 150 Euro at the moment

Yes, rates can vary quite significantly. Keep looking, they can drop a little closer to travel date sometimes.

I have stayed at Hilton Wembley Plaza and Hilton Olympia Hotel in Kensington and found both of them to be adequate. You will be able to get both of these hotels for ~€100 Euro a night.

There are a few other Hilton hotels similarly priced for the dates you need.

I stayed at the Hilton heathrow end of Dec 2006, looks great from the outside but the rooms were average (was staying on the club floor with the lounge closed = bugger). We had a late checkout for something after 1400 hrs and after returning from pool (at approx 0900) they put a rollaway bed in our room for the next guest. Kind of makes you feel like an early eviction, and made packing bags a bit harder!

Have heard Hilton Paddingtion is very good.

The London Hiltons seem to score a wide variety of opinions in the various feedback forums. Wembly seems to be considered out of the way for sightseeing.
Is there any feedback on London Bridge Hotel?- area looks very central & looks like transport would be fine and walking very easy

How is the Paddington Hilton accommodations? I'll be in London in the middle of May.

I have found their rooms to be very nice and above average size for London. I always book the cheapest room type available, but suspect I have received upgrades due to Hilton Honors status. Though on my last visit my HH status had dropped to Silver and I still found the room very nice and large for by London standards.

Be aware that like many hotels in London, there are some pretty high charges for things like using the phone (used to be GBP2 for a "free" call).

But the convenience of getting to/from LHR and being right at Paddington Station and Underground is excellent.

NM, I'll keep those things in mind. Thanks for the suggestion!

Being from the states, I'm finding it very important to ask knowledgeable travelers beforehand...this will probably save me a lot of trouble and unnecessary costs. Cheers.

Thanks for the feedbacks. The Hilton prices are getting cheaper as my trip gets closer. Seems there are 1,000's of other hotel rooms always available throughout London

Bumping this back up as I get closer to leaving. Price options on the Hiltons have improved and Tower Bridge seems to be well received by reviewers. Any thoughts re ease of access, trip out to Heathrow, pubs nearby etc. Have also signed up to join HH- tips on best use, I have been following the other current threads, likely only to have 1 stay of 2 nights in London & perhaps 1 or 2 stays in NZ later in 2009.

I've done the Hilton Kensington a number of times which is fairly nice and is often is less than 100EUR.

I don't see them as the total answer but I note that trip advisor reviews see the Hilton Tower Bridge rate higher than the Paddington & Kensington. Is my first stay in London & Tower Bridge looks like Ok spot for walking & viewing.
