So, in case you missed it, Linkt ended its arrangement witlh Coles (Reddy) Express service stations. Sadly that means no more "stacking" Coles fuel discounts with the Linkt 4c per litre discount, while earning a tiny number of Flybuys points that convert to an even tinier number of Virgin Velocity points.

But now Linkt have partnered with 711, with a 6c per litre discount. No "stacking" that I can think of, but that's a discount that is not to be sniffed at. 711 are parnered with Velocity too, so you earn Velocity points direct rather than via Flybuys.

You don't actually ever have to be a customer of Linkt, you just have to have the app.

I wonder how the 6c Linkt discount interacts with the 711 fuel lock process (if at all).

I often save up to 25c per litre using fuel lock on the 711 app.

I wondered about that, but hadn't checked. I've never used it anyway. I just use the NSW fuel price check app to find the cheapest.

The best thing about it is if a 711 offer is the cheapest then you can fill up at any 711 station and get the best price regardless of what the pump says and lock in your next fill (within 7days) at that same price if still current.

If 711 is not the cheapest next time you need to fill just fill wherever cheapest and let the lock drop off after 7 days.

I alternate between 711 offers and a local Caltex that often is cheaper than everyone else within 10km of home.

Was better a few years back when you could use fake GPS and travel to a better location, lock in the price and get the fuel anywhere.

They eventually managed to stop that sadly

Then capped the discount to 25c/l where in VIC the price can vary by 50c :(

We have some cheap independents (Pearl), but with the various discounts Coles (Reddy) Express is often cheaper for petrol (my car), but not diesel (my ute and my partner's ute).

The fuel lock is great. She’ll also have the secret saver which stacks with the instore spend discount, lost count of the number of times folk doing a gas bottle swap looked perplexed when I asked if they needed fuel for their prado at the same time given the extra 10xc per litre discount. Sodastream refills also qualified.

Yeah, those were the days….. I remember you could lock in the price in Perth and fill up in NSW, saving around $20-30 per fill.
