Hi All
I am looking for Seoul to Perth flight via QR redemption in December 2023.
The other day i found 3 business class seats (which what i need) from Hongkong to Perth. Without thinking too long, i immediately booked it as this is a rare availability as cash price is about $14k! So i thought i book this first since cancelling QR will only cost 6000 points each.
Now it is just a waiting game for QR availability from Seoul to HK or worst case buy cash price as i am very happy for HK to Perth business class for 7+hrs already.
The issue is can i link the 2 bookings together? so that if one flight has some issue (delay etc), the other flight will get rescheduled for free also. Has anyone had recent experience in linking more than 1 booking?
Spoke with Cathay via whatsapp and call centre and they are as bad as Qantas call centre. 6 calls, 3 said you can and 3 said you can't. Some even said i need to go through immigration and custom and recheck in which doesn't make sense considering both are CX flight.
I even asked for their check in policy to check in as 1 from start to finish even though I have separate bookings and they said I can't. But then i showed them the through check in policy they have on their website, they said "then you can". But does check in 2 seperate bookings as one also link the 2 bookings together? I rather link it as soon as i get the leg should there is any change before the departure. Thanks for any input!
