I am flying CBR-SYD(Y)-LAX(J) on VA metal - J is not available from CBR-SYD. I requested limo service in CBR, and I was told that I'm not eligible because they said my booking class is Y, where it is clearly J.

I called VA, and after putting me on hold for 15 minutes, they said that my booking is eligible, however unavailable, as their limo service does not operate in Canberra.

The website states:

Participating Airports

The limousine service is currently available to and from the following participating airports, depending on the airline operating your flights :

Flights operated by Virgin Australia
Australia
Brisbane International Airport
Melbourne International Airport
Sydney International Airport
Airports in all other Australian capital cities when a guest is connecting between an international long haul flight and a domestic flight operated by Virgin Australia

Did I just encounter some ignorance or is Canberra not an Australian capital city?

If you are trying to book the limo you would know this already, but are you booked on a "Full fare" Business ticket? If not, there's no limo available. I suspect that because you're in Y and not J from CBR-SYD you're ineligible (because only full fare J/C tickets are eligible).

Yea it's J - customer service confirmed this. The issue is they told me limo service doesn't operate in CBR...

Irrespective of what the operator told you, can you confirm if you paid for a "full fare"ticket ?. I just think it is important to confirm your actual fare class from your booking ( which is J according to your post ) but not to confuse it with the generic "Y" and "J" terms that are substituted for economy and business.

I think the fact that your ticket is not all sectors in "full fare" business you may not be eligible even though you have received different advice from VA.

I suggest you try calling again

So, I called again, and this time they were able to book in the service. I'm happy, but wondering where they got the information that the service wasn't available in Canberra last time I called... Seems like they don't know their own product and just make things up.

Good result...
