I've been searching for route MEL-KUL via SQ for travel period months in advanced but noticed lately that seats are extremely limited nowadays compared to say 6-12 months ago. For example, i used to be able to get seats for MEL-KUL route for 2 adults + 1 infant. Now i found nothing for this route, but when i changed to MEL-SIN there seems to be more seats open up but literally nothing if i want to go to KUL. Has anyone noticed any changes on this or the seats been quietly snapped up by frequent travellers, or perhaps SQ has reduced the seats available for redemption on this route?

I have been waiting to add a segment from Malaysia to connect to my SIN SYD flight for a few months but multiple Agents could not do it. I had to book them separately. I think that the issue - marriage segment is not allowed - or something like that. So you need to break the segment KUL -SIN and spend more points+tax. Or buy cash ticket.

yeah we used to be able to book 2 leg in a single booking where the SIN-KUL leg is literally "free" as the points required for redemption for MEL-SIN-KUL was the same as MEL-SIN. Either SQ or Velocity has scrapped this..

I booked thru Aeroplan and they unable to add that segment. So seems like ftom SQ. I actually waited since January till now and tried multiple times but Aeroplan Agents couldn't do anything eventhough the seats are there.

I am having a similar issue seeking availability for SIN-MEL. I will be looking for 4 seats in the second week of the Victorian school holidays July 2026 which is not yet available yet on Velocity, but is on Krisflyer. I am looking at the currently available dates in June 2026 to get an idea of what may become available in July and seeing no regular award availability for 4 seats SIN-MEL direct, only premium award at 57k points + A$150. I can see limited regular availability via SYD or ADL for 35k or 37k points + A$208 or A$212. While that would be fine if it were just me travelling, I would rather not do that with 2 young kids in tow.

The flights I want are available now for 30,500 Krisflyer points + A$111, so I can get them now by transferring 47,275 Velocity points per seat to Krisflyer. Alternatively, I can take the risk and wait to see whether the flights I want become available on Velocity for 29,000 points plus A$150 when those dates become available in about 3 weeks time. Noting that there appear to be ample reward seats in the second week of the April school holidays on Krisflyer, I'm minded to take the risk and just hope those Krisflyer seats are still available in 3 weeks time.

One other thing, I can see 2 ordinary rewards flights on Velocity available on most SIN-MEL flights, but availability disappears when I push it to 3. If that happens for the flights I want in July, I suppose what I should do is book my wife and 1 kid through Velocity and myself and the other kid through Krisflyer.

Happy for any comments on the above.
