Likelihood of Japan sales to better $500 O/W in March?

Daughter and friend flying Gold Coast to Osaka in March '19.

Currently JQ has starter fares +30kg + meal + seat select + IFE for $511 one way.

I like the JQ option because of only one stop (in CNS) and a good time 7.00am (local) - 7.30PM (local).

Is that a reasonable deal or do you think there may be a good possibility of sales between now and then?

Assuming you want to leave from the Gold Coast then the $511 you found is probably best.

VA/SQ OOL-SYD-SIN-KIX is the next cheapest at ~$650, however, cheaper options can be found from Brisbane. Thai $498 (via BKK) or via TPE with either EVA Air or China Airlines is around $530 (overnight flights from Brisbane though).

If you specifically need one way, then I'd just go with that.

Depending when the travel is planned, earlier in March is a lower peak period. However, for Japan sale fares are normally only applied to return tickets. One ways don't get sales applied to them by most carriers, so the price you see there is likely close to, if not as low as it will go.

Great. Thanks for the help. I didn't realise that one ways don't normally go on sale.

I would have a preference for either China Airlines or EVA. If the JQ flight is delayed by an hour or so you run in to the potential for limited transport options ex NRT (unless they've changed the train times recently?).

The legacy carriers are also full service. Who wants to pay for a drink every time?

They're underage, so hopefully not too many drinks!
JQ flys direct into KIX and friends would pick them up from the airport.

Good arrival time in that case.

Not just liquor, but if they want a glass of soft drink. Not much fun to have to pay for everything :(

You mean to tell me that there are drinks on an aircraft other than grog? :D
